Dear Patriots:
Your committee has been working to put together a
memorable thirty year reunion! We want to thank each and every one
of you who took the initiative to find our website www.PHHS79.com
and update your contact information. Thanks also to those of you
who have referred your friends to the website or have let us know
how to contact additional alumni. We'd like to encourage all of
you to generate some buzz, "go viral", and help us to
find the rest of our class! So far, we've confirmed over 15% of
our very large class of 1200 with five months between now and the
big day. Please help us get the word
out! Contact those you've kept in touch with and
encourage them to register. Keep an eye on the website (www.PHHS79.com
then click on Class
List) to see which of your old friends are attending.
We can accommodate 650 and based on the early response, we expect
the event to be very well attended. We’re not using a reunion
company this time, so we’re really relying on you to make
the evening a success. Adjacent classes and family are welcome to
attend. Adults over 21 only.
The reunion will be held on Saturday, August 1 at
On Broadway Event Center
in the Gaslamp quarter near the US Grant hotel. There will be plenty
of food for every taste and your first drink is included. A DJ will
be spinning our favorite old school tunes, and we hope to be sharing
photos that you provide on the video wall. The evening will be styled
as a small plate reception so we'll have every opportunity to mingle
and catch up with as many alumni as we can muster a memory of…
or to meet for the first time! The venue is quite large and we have
the entire facility reserved for our private party from 6:00-10:00
p.m. The main floor has bistro tables and booths, the bar, our reception
stations, and the dance floor. Downstairs, you'll find comfortable
upholstered seating areas for small groups to chat. Parking is free
at Horton Plaza.
Tickets are on sale now through www.PHHS79.com
at $90 each if you purchase before
May 1 (click on Reunion
Info to purchase electronically or for "snail
mail" instructions). That’s a 25% increase over our twenty
year reunion. So how does it compare? Since 1999, gas is up 70%,
Big Macs are up 47%, movie tickets are up 42%, and the average concert
ticket is up 148%... we’re looking like a real entertainment
bargain! Buy your tickets soon to take advantage of this pre-sale
pricing. To sweeten the deal, we’ll refund the purchase price
of one ticket to one lucky classmate from the group of folks who
purchase before May 1.
We’d like your input on the evening’s
events. We do plan to have photo nametags again to help us recognize
each other and overcome our mid-life memory lapses. We too have
been replaced by strange middle aged people impersonating as us,
so you’re not alone! Are you interested in personal trivia
like who has the most grandkids, and most miles traveled in thirty
years? Sharing photos or video? Printed biography books? Door prizes
or trinkets to take home? Any ideas to help each other reconnect
and reacquaint the night of the event? Would the singles among us
want to try speed dating with your old crushes? Please blog the
website and let us know (go to www.PHHS79.com
and click on Forum
to start your blog).
To those who have volunteered to help out, thank you!
Now is the time, so we’ll be in touch soon. Any new volunteers
or cash donations will be graciously accepted. Don’t forget
the Allied Gardens Community Picnic on August 2 which we’re
sharing with the class of 1984 (go to www.PHHS79.com
and click on Reunion
Info to learn more about the picnic).
Can’t wait to see all of you in August!
Kind Regards,
Elena Kostas, Mariam Labonville, Jerry Ackerman, Nancee
Kende, and Ann Richards
